Student Feedback for Module HEALING DANCE & SOMATIC TOUCH
"Fun, collaborative, awe-inducing, educational, challenging, focused, and transformative. This is what comes to mind when I remember this module.
I’m writing this feedback nearly 12 months after I tool the module. This week planted the seed for an awakening process for my awareness. The only thing that exists is right here right now and that’s true for everything everywhere.
The biggest change I noted immediately after the module was being more aware of my fear to be physically close to other people. The fear had diminished a little, yes, but the awareness of the fear and where I could sense it in my body had increased to a point where it now felt separate from me. Touch is healing. We all have medicine to heal each other within us 🙂
The practical hands-on education mixed with theory and self-sensing practice is the most interesting education I’ve experienced. Five hours per day for 8 days in a row is of time to stay focused, but we were all able to do it and enjoy it! The entire experience is educational. We are either practicing moving and sensing, practicing coaching, learning anatomy, psychology, or a theory framework that’s helpful in sensing or coaching.
The activities are so simple, which makes them easy to remember and share with other people! Which is great! The focus on sensing, moving, and quality of dialogue is repeated and approached from so many different angles that it becomes unforgettable.
It was novel to feel so supported, interested, challenged, and relaxed all at once. Also, the whole hybrid class with some people on zoom and some in person was fucking cool! Hearing the feedback of the two people practicing together in a different space was fascinating and it felt good to share with them too.
Dieter and Julia - you guys are the best teachers (second to the body) and I enjoy practicing with you because it’s an active exploration in this moment. You are so committed to what you teach that it is so natural for you to adapt and collaborate in the process as both leaders and peers."
"As expressed before, my personal journey brought me to death and to be reborn to realise that I am attached to this life :) and that life is precious! My physical body' reactions and sensations were intense during the middle of the retreat. Lots of dreams and subconscious information coming to the surface. I ended the retreat recharged and reset."
"I very much enjoyed the dancing and playful exercises; e.g. the supporting 'statues' and the pulling/pushing/breathing were wonderful activities that I want to keep in my repertoire. The theory parts were great places to reflect, repeat, and think through why we are doing what we do. I am very convinced of the PME method and could even have spent more time on exploring the theoretical aspects (though I appreciate it's a practice-centred retreat). Another aspect I loved were the reflective rounds, as I could tap into others' experiences and perspectives, which made the sessions very rich.
I felt well-supported all the way through the retreat; by my study partner, by Dieter and Julia, by the group, and also by my family. I knew that I could voice any issues I had in different ways (in the feedback sessions, in private messages to Julia, or in google classroom) if anything had come up. The sharing circles felt supportive too, and I never had any doubt that what I had to say would be accepted in the group. There was no pressure to say or do things in a certain way."
