Module 3 Somatic Coaching & Somatic Movement
"The teacher is brilliant! :) Very passionate and knowledgeable on the topic, conveying precise and easy to understand knowledge, experience and enthusiasm along the course. Very friendly, approachable and generous in his support and feedback."
"I now understand the structure and logic behind somatic movement/PME, and it makes me appreciate the method even more."
"So, I have not only learned about PME, but also a lot about myself (and others!)"
"I learned a lot about the functioning oft the somatic dialogue – how it works, why it works and what conditions it needs inorder to work. "
"My understanding and trust in the method, in self-coaching and coaching deepened. That is a really good thing to experience."
"Personally, this has been an amazing and rich journey, connecting more to my body, physically and sensory, becoming curious and explorative, being more friendly and compassionate with my body and its processes.
This course offered the space to go through a wide range of sensing, feelings, thoughts- from I feel nothing, I am not sure what is there... to overwhelming, humbling realizations about my self (mind, body, spirit)"
"In general, somatic movement starts many processes that seem to run under the surface during the week- There was a lot of inner movement und thanks to the space for reflection/integration/sensing these internal shifts/changes were supported very well. "
"The content and also organisational issues are structured very well. Everything I needed to know was transparent; communication was personal, friendly, clear and inviting."
"A good mixture of methods – especially the big portions of somatic movement are crucial to understanding and internalising somatic movement and its effects.
The structure is very well designed and transparent, well explained.
Timing – as always – perfect."
"I enjoyed your sessions very much. And my impression is that you did a great job in making your approach even more accessible, clearer and comprehensible, The pdf-documents and research into somatic dialogue/self regulation are a leap in quality in my perception."
"The teacher was good. He managed to guide us through the content in a mindful and compassionate way. Which is not the easiest thing to do when you have to answer questions - sometimes so many, sometimes so complex. I felt supported when I needed to.
The (self-) coaching protocol and the ways of starting the sensing were and will be a good backup in any situation if I practice them more often with different clients."
"It was great, and I was looking forward to the session every week.
The methods of teaching worked well together, combining theoretical teaching with practical exercises in every session. The mindmaps and handouts were very useful and I have printed them out so that I can refer to them easily. "
"The teacher was Very good, very knowledgeable, and very friendly. Dieter also took the time to comment on all our homework, which I really appreciate as it was a brilliant learning resource. He also made space for our questions and kept referring to the theoretical teaching in the practical parts of the session, hence connecting both very well."
I learned:
- How to coach a person through a somatic dialogue or multiple cycles of the dialogue.
- What features to consider for the setting.
- How to interact with clients as a coach and to distinguish that from when my role is not a coach
- Self-regulation and co-regulation theory. How self-regulation develops. The power of sensing the present moment in re-patterning self-regulation
- How to observe a person's idiosyncrasies and use those as keys
- How to actively listen and use this information to collaborate with the client
- The client truly has all the answers
- How to keep a client in the present moment
- The structure of the class, i.e. practice, theory, homework, with dashes of theory sometimes being in practice, felt appropriate.
- The homework structure of coaching each other was great.
the teacher was
- Committed to teaching his students
- Moving through content at a good pace
- Always available to answer questions
- Articulate, organized, interesting, and collaborative
- Supportive
"The learning was two-fold, as it offered a lot of knowledge and coaching on a personal level as well as content on how to offer this coaching method to other people.
A very clear and sequential process of self coaching, teaching on sensing the body, sensing movement, being aware where the attention is at every moment (attention grid) and allowing the somatic dialogue to bring about physio-mental development and identifying inner resources as an accessible toolbox to be used in day-to-day life."
"In terms of coaching, I learned how to focus and listen to the client, how to pick up keys from their process and allow the session to be client oriented and assist in identifying and developing resources which are personal to the client and thus more understandable and effective."
"Being able to carry this process for someone else in the form of coaching was challenging with a lot of aspects to work on within myself to ensure a smoother process. Nevertheless, from the beginning of the course and through out, the environment within the team was very friendly, easy going and comfortable which made it easy to attempt the coaching sessions with each other. This process has definitely added and seasoned my coaching skills, until they finally form and be ready to be offered out there to clients in the future."
"I felt very supported, the support was present through out the course, in the lessons and the private sessions- the content of the course, precise answering of my questions, being able to express any concerns and getting good feedback."
"I found the teaching process to be very smooth, organized and quite easy to fit in a busy life schedule. The weekly lessons were long enough to be rich in content, experiencing and integration. Very organized and straight forward communication in the Classroom platform. The homework each week ensured that the momentum of the learning was maintained and offered a lot of insight and information on what I was learning, any loopholes in my understanding and good feedback on what I was doing well and what had to improve."
"I very much enjoyed that the module was so practice-oriented. It was good that in every session we did somatic movement, and I particularly enjoyed the group coachings (when someone was being coached in front of the group), I think they are very helpful for learning."
"In the coaching homeworks we could practice and try out the steps of somatic coaching, and the commented sessions were incredibly useful to get detailed feedback and re-watch what went on in the session. Recognising and using ‘keys’ became much easier after having practiced for a while, and the whole process now makes not only much more sense but has also become easier. Apart from that, it was so enjoyable to act as an actual practitioner!"
"The module gave me a lot of joy. After the foundation module, I was quite ‘hungry’ for understanding what is behind the PME practice, and while there are some resources on the website, discussing it in the group and linking it to practice made a big difference. So I enjoyed that."
"Within the group, I feel we had a great, friendly and very supportive atmosphere, and I am so glad to know that we’ll all continue together in the Advanced Training."
"Yes, I felt very supported. Sometimes I thought my experiences will sound very weird to someone else, but it was never an issue to express them freely, as they were always met with respect, understanding, and, well, support from Dieter, Julia, and the class."
