yesterdays reading

finally I have time to follow my interest in reading.
So what i found yesterday was:
  • Bodily undoing: Somatics as practices of critique. By: Alexander, Kirsty; Kampe, Thomas. Journal of Dance & Somatic Practices. Jun2017, Vol. 9 Issue 1, p3-12. 10p. DOI: 10.1386/jdsp.9.1.3_2.
    How political is somatics?
  •   Nanopolitics handbook : How to think politics with and through the body
the nanopolitics group, Edited by Paolo Plotegher, Manuela Zechner and Bue Rübner Hansen
I found mikes punk book in the same publishing company.

  • Soma - an anarchistic therapy
    http://www.somaterapia.com.br/en/soma/anarquismo/
    "
This new ethics entails both the respect for individuality and a strong emphasis on solidarity, whereby a healthy life would mean an ethical searching for pleasure against the conventional notions of sacrifice. Soma’s ideology of pleasure breaks with these traditional leftist notions, shared by both the new international neoliberalism and the canonical Marxism and psychoanalysis"

my research of today

In this blog I will try to keep track from now on everything that I consider inquiry and learning to be used maybe in my MAPP research project:
  • I lead a spontaneus class today combining somatic movement with a dance routine that is close to extatic dance (what did I learn from that experience?)
  • I had a talk with a peer student of MAPP, where the puting into words about what I think about the study, helped me to be clearer and more conscious about what I am doing
my readings of today:

Hallo <<First Name>>!
In the following text I want to explain how
SOMATIC MOVEMENT online is not only healthy for our bodies, but can also help to balance the nervesystem and assist in the healing of small or big mental and emotional injuries.

When our needs are not met, or when we get emotionally injured from the outside we develop creative and individual patterns of survival. When these injuries are very big or ongoing for a long time and cannot be resolved our nerve system learns that this is the normal state of being and can even be primed to stay in this state of being. To secure our safety and survival we often use the extrem reactions of our outward and active nervesystem, the sympathetic nervesystem. These extem reaction of the sympathetic nerve system are described as ‘fight, flight, freeze or fawn’.

In addition it is possible that we also learned, in situations where we got injured, not to express our connected feelings as doing so can also be dangerous, so we learned to store them somewhere in our bodies.

Little outward things can trigger us into ‘fight, flight, freeze or fawn’ or into old stored emotions.
This is very stressful and exhausting and can cause physical ailments and mental suffering as well as difficulties in our relationships to other people in work and private life. These outward patterns work until they do not work anymore because of a change in the circumstances.

Inward sensing is changing our system from outward to inward, inward sensing is changing us from being in the symphatetic nerve system to being in the parasympathetic nervesystem.

Inward sensing can help us to come into resting and digesting and finding a safe and healing space.

In SOMATIC MOVEMENT online we sense our body from the inside with our proprioceptive sense, and we sense our movement from the inside with our kinestetic sense.

SOMATIC MOVEMENT online is also guiding us into feeling our old and new emotions and alows for direct expression of these emotions in movement. When we are allowed to feel and express our old stored emotions we do not need to hide and store them anymore in our bodies, we can free ourselfs from those emotions.

SOMATIC MOVEMENT online can help to balance the nervesystem and assist in the healing of small or big mental and emotional injuries.

SOMATIC MOVEMENT online is offered as open weekly class for every body.

These classes can serve as a personal practice as well as a foundation for the

BASIC SOMATIC TRAINING.
for all the other offers see below or look at the calender.

<<First Name>>, I hope to welcome you soon!

All the best
Dieter

Presentation of draft of reflective essay

17/12/2022

When I was preparing my draft with mind maps, these mind maps kept growing and became quite complex, so i decided to do a video presentation of the mind maps instead of a written text.
I share this presentation with you as it represents my thinking and reflecting at this stage.

Self-Development through the Somatic Dialogue

17/11/2022

This is my writing about the second area of learning to earn recognition from the university for my prior learning and professional practice.

The Somatic Dialogue is the main theoretical framework of my method PME.
But furthermore it is also my theoretical framework of how I think about learning and reflecting in a somatic way, that I will  try to use in this study to become a Master of Professional Practice.

the Anatomy of Mind

17/11/2022

This is my writing about the first area of learning to earn recognition from the university for my prior learning and professional practice.

I have chosen this title , “anatomy of the mind”, to show how I have learned to dissect the mind in order to analyze and reflect on how the mind and it's functions are working, and how these learnings helped me to improve my work as a somatic teacher and somatic movement therapist.

todays writing

23/10/2022

today I wrote an application for the "The World Arts and Embodiment Forum (WAEF)".
as there was a lot of reflecting on my work envolved, I share my application here:

This workshop is a simple Somatic Movement class in which the theory can be directly perceived, embodied, reflected and shared.

This workshop will examine the intersection between Buddhist psychology and Somatic Movement Therapy to show its use for self-care and sustainable self-development as well as for Somatic Coaching, Somatic Touch and Healing Dance.

This Somatic Movement class will focus on the Somatic Dialogue and its use of the Buddhist concepts of “mind-factors” and the “law of action” for building resilience and preventing burnout. The “mind-factors”, especially the helpful and healing qualities of the mind, are always part of the beginning of the Somatic Dialogue, the questioning part.
The  “law of action” is the key factor of the answer and  the developmental part in the Somatic Dialogue. The questioning and the answering of the Somatic dialogue are  furthermore mirrored in the science-based sensory-motor cycle.

Working with the somatic dialogue is stabilizing through finding  a moveable balance in the body as well as in the mind. This moveable balance is, through its adaptability, more sustainable.

Inside of this highly experiential Somatic Movement class there will be a short presentation of the Buddhist concept of mind and its use in the Somatic Dialogue.

Buddhist psychology is not only the heart of the Somatic Dialogue, practicing the Somatic Dialogue in different somatic arts, becomes a spiritual practice in itself.

This workshop incorporates also sharing circles that blend indigenous circle-culture with highly developed democratic practices.

In addition this workshop will  give some insight in the technology, that was developed during the covid-19 pandemic to work with somatic teaching & somatic coaching  in an online and hybrid way for one-on-one sessions, group education and big trainings.

Workshop leader Dieter Rehberg is an innovating pioneer, who, based on his artistic and somatic education and practice, developed his own somatic method: Physio-Mentale Entwicklung (PME). PME has its  roots in german expressive dance (rosalia chladek), usa-centered somatics and post-modern dance, buddhist psychology and trauma-informed neurosciences, as well as in cutting-edge approaches of short-time-counseling. The Somatic Dialogue is one of the key-factors of PME.

To participate you need:
  • space to move
  • time
  • your undisturbed presence
  • technical equipment for a zoom meeting
  • willingness to
             sense your body
             move
             perceive your thoughts and feelings
             reflect
             share
             to be seen (camera on)

Student Voice Leader

21/10/2022

Dear colleagues!

I am now your Student Voice Leader.

I was the the only one, that volunteered, so that is why the student union appointed me to be the Student Voice Leader for the program Master Professional Practice.
My duty is now to communicate your whishes, complaints, difficulties and suggestions,
in a strictly confidential way, to the university, especial to the program leader Helen Kindred.

So what would make your study easier?
What would you like to see improved on your course and how?
Please let me know!

This is how you can communicate with me:
email: dieter.rehberg[at]pme.or.at      or
DR681[at]live.mdx.ac.uk
phone or whatsapp: +43 650 5458610
there is also the possiblity to leave your message in complete anonymous way:
I set up a online whiteboard where you can write, post and upload anonymously.
You get the link for the whiteboard from me or from my post in our student groups.

We do have already two online student groups that work very well ( thank you honor!!)
One is using whatsApp as plattform, the other is on the plattform rocketChat, which is not censored in china, as we want to include our colleagues in china.
In this groups we have already a lot of discussion and mutual help, we do exchange ideas and share solutions.
I will send you the invitation links for these groups if you text or email me.

With all the information that I gather from you I
will meet with the program leader and university staff formally twice a year and also have informal communication with  the program leader.

So please let me know your concerns!
And I do believe, although our difficulties feel very individual and personal, there can be easily help and support on a structual level.

all the best

Dieter Rehberg

Reflecting on Reflecting

16/10/2022

while reading about reflection I found this, which made me think:

"Reflection has generally been accommodated into educational and practice organisations from a technical rational perspective with little evidence of its efficacy in terms of better practice or more competent practitioners."

Not knowing

8/10/2022

not knowing
is the best starting place
for
learning
creating
development
healing

because when you dont know you have to listen
in the moment
in the here and now
to your material
to your body
to your thinking
to your movements

change can only happen in the here and now
reflection is always on the past or the future
change can only happen in the here and now

sensation is always in the here and now
intuition is making decissions from sensations

inventing language
by finding poetic words for sensations
is a bridge
between sensation and reflection
between the here and now    and past patterns     and future ideas

+++my peer Lea inspired me to write in a more poetic style, which made it easier to start writing+++

Frustration

29/9/2022

the problem below has been solved.
the class was rescheduled for tommorow
the only way to find out was  to check helens blog!
I think some kind of messaging system (email?) would be appropriate for an online study,
when the schedule is changing.

it is now 1:37 on thu 29.09.2022
I tried to attend the following class, as written in the MAPP Schedule:
"Thursday Sept 29th Academic writing practice 1-2pm Aimed at Module Ones but open as a refresher to all students"

in the MAPP schedule it also says:
Join Zoom Meeting
https://mdx-ac-uk.zoom.us/j/96693201547?pwd=U3psOEp3b2EwRUVUNVY2WnBESUM3UT09
Meeting ID: 966 9320 1547
Passcode: 083939
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS THE ZOOM LINK FOR ALL SESSIONS THIS ACADEMIC YEAR

When I click link and follow zoom I come to the place where it says:
please wait until the host starts this meeting

I
am still waiting, now it is 1:44

in the MAPP schedule it also says:
ALL LINKS FOR SESSIONS ARE IN THE ZOOM FOLDER ON PROGRAMME PAGE – MYUNIHUB
i
n the only zoom folder that I found the are just the recordings but no links

I am still waiting

Is there the possibilities to write a whatsapp message to someone, if somthing does not work????

Schlaraffenland!!

22/9/2022

Today I found the land of milk and honey,
because finally I found access to the library and the possibilty to read online.

my God, I worked for 30 years without having acces to any theory, articles and good books,
because all somatic education is 99% practicle education ( and 1% thinking ).
for my own training I am writing down the theory and preparing visual aids all on my own, wich is a lot of hard work.

but today I found Schlaraffenland!

And although I know that greed is a unhelpful mindfactor I became sooo greedy, wanting to copy and download everything.

this pays back the tuition fee

I am happy!
